Ippudo East Village, NYC

I unconditionally love noodles.  Ramen is therefore no exception.  If you're looking for amazing ramen in NYC there is really no other option but Ippudo in the East Village.  Though not as authentically Tokyo as Decibel just a few blocks away, Ippudo has done great job blending ramen noodle soups with a mixture of traditional and fusion small plates to create a really tasty menu.

Don't get me wrong, Ippudo is very Japanese.  The chefs yell greetings and orders from the open air kitchen and those sitting at the counter to eat get to watch the food being prepared in a calculated and meticulous fashion.  Last time I was in Tokyo, I asked a cousin who had lived in Japan where I should be eating ramen.  When he told me Ippudo, I said I had already been there and crossed it off of my list.  It's nice to have an overseas favorite in our own back yard.  My favorite in-house ramen is the Akamaru Modern.
