Jeans!: Self Edge x Imperial SEXI14 Raw Denim Review

When denim experts Self Edge work with top denim brands from around the world the results are always amazing and their latest collaboration with Australian brand Imperial is no exception.  Unlike other Imperial jeans which are constructed in Australia, these jeans have been completely put together in Japan within minutes of the California cotton fabric coming off the looms in Okayama.  As a result of this immediate loom to construction process, the jeans themselves have an uneven and loose weave.  The SEXI14 is a big change for us in terms of how the denim looks and feels but it's all positive.  There's a much more hand made feel to the jeans which makes them much more unique than some of our other pairs or raw denim.

More on the Self Edge x Imperial SEXI14 after the jump.

Right off of the shelf the 15oz unsanforized denim felt quite rough, almost like burlap, but after the initial soak and the first wear they softened right up.  I imagine the fading on these will look great over time because of the rough texture.  Now on to the cut which is what sucked me into this pair originally.  The style very modern with an 18cm leg opening which puts this pair in the minority among the brands that Self Edge carries because many of them prefer vintage and traditional fits.  The fit is very slim tapered much like Dior 19cm if you've sized them appropriately.  They look great if slim denim is your thing.

As far as sizing, I originally thought I would need to size down one, but it turned out I was true to size.  After they shrank (and they shrank considerably) the fit was perfect!  This pair is an instant classic in our opinion and we hope to see more of the same from Self Edge's collaborations in the future.
