Bye Bye Kitty Exhibit at the Japan Society
The Japan Society always has some great exhibitions running and Bye Bye Kitty is no exception. The show departs from recent Japanese modern art exhibits by showcasing both emerging and midcareer artists rather than the internationally known masters like Yoshitomo Nara or Takashi Murakami. The artwork and installations on display seek to challenge the uncertainty of Japan's future as a young and rebellious youth clashes with a conservative and traditional aging population. This uncertainty now extends further due to the ongoing tragedies in Japan's Northeast bring eve more significance to Bye Bye Kitty. You can check out all of the innovative, thought provoking and sometimes disturbing art through June 12th at the Japan Society.
